Dubai issues more than 2,800 new business licenses in April

DED’s Business Registration and Licensing sector issued more than 2,800 new licenses in April, up 60 percent compared to the same month last year. The new licenses created 8,375 jobs in the Dubai labour market last month.

The new licenses 49 percent were professional, 48.1 percent commercial, 2.3 percent related to tourism and 0.6 percent to industry.

The Business Map digital platform of DED also revealed that 29,813 business registration and licensing transactions were completed during April, a growth of 13 percent.

The report showed that the number of trade name reservations was 4,513, a growth of 36.6 percent compared to April 2018, while the number of initial approvals reached 3,664.

BRL also issued 185 instant licenses, a growth of 112.6 percent compared to the same period in 2018.

The report also showed that the top nationalities who secured licences in April were Bangladeshis, followed by Indians, Pakistanis, Egyptians and Brits.

Trade and repair services accounted for 34 percent of the new licences issued in April, followed by real estate, leasing and business services (27.8 percent), community and personal services (11.6 percent), and building and construction (11.2 percent).
